First Heritage Raises the Bar with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Fundraiser

First Heritage Mortgage Services recently demonstrated their commitment to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer by hosting various events in their office raising a staggering $3,500 for kids battling cancer.

Events included a Trenton Thunder and Beauty Basket Raffle, office Spare Change Jars, and a Longwood Gardens trip to benefit this worthy cause.

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding pediatric cancer research. It was founded in 2008 by Larry and Gretchen Witt, parents dedicated to helping their young son’s odds in his fight against cancer. Shocked to learn of the lack of effective treatments for pediatric cancers due to lack of funding, they pledged to support the funding of research for safer, more effective treatments for children battling cancer. With the help of 250 volunteers, his mom Gretchen baked and sold 96,000 cookies raising more than $400,000 for research. Word spread, and people nationwide began asking, “How can I help?”

First Heritage Mortgage Services encourages all community members to be a “Good Cookie” and support Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, as every dollar counts and every small act can make a difference. Since 2008 Cookies for Kids’ Cancer’s efforts have brought 6 promising new treatments to clinical trial, where they’re available to children fighting cancer TODAY.

Anyone can register and host their own “Good Cookie” event by registering at www.cookiesforkidscancer.org.
